Memoir of My Birthday

Birthdays are always fun. A way to celebrate life, birthday bring us lots of happiness in terms of new clothes, beautiful presents and the fun and frolic. Birthdays are done right when everything goes according to the plan. From décor to food, to deciding on what to wear to deciding a theme for the party, birthdays have its own vibrant charm per se!

When we grow up, often we come across to oldies complaining how they don’t like birthdays or that birthdays are overrated, it is not true! Birthdays bring the fond memories of our childhood to the young age.

I remember when my mommy dearest bought me a girl designer dress for my 5th birthday. Too naïve and young to understand and distinguish the brand at that time, I still remember quite vividly how it looked on me. Adhering to the hues of my favourite colour- Pink; the dress fell perfectly on me, befitting me flawlessly.

The billowing skirt with golden embellishments radiated this effervescence that garnered a lot of compliments for me. The only way I thanked them all was with a smile. I recall my mother was being asked about where I got my dress from. She simply laughed it off. My mother’s taste in dresses was pretty subtle and elegant. She usually picked up the children dresses online. Shopping to her was abysmal as opposed to other women. She despised going out looking for a right fit, right silhouette, the right designer and the right cloth material when the person in question was me. She would always bank upon Kidology’s umpteen collection of designer clothing. Options were abundant and enchanting.

Birthdays have been special to me, especially when I recollect this memory! For my mother dearest made me look like a show stopper; enough to gather the right gaze.

Tips To Dress Your Little One for a Family Wedding

Attending weddings and family functions is always fun. If we talk about Indian weddings, there are a series of pre weddings events that are equally important and add more to the fun and frolic. Everyone wants to look their best on all these events, especially if it’s a wedding of a closed family member. From clothes to shoes and accessories, we want to buy the best pieces. If you are a parent, you not only have to worry about your clothes and accessories, but also have to make sure that your little one look presentable on all occasions.

Buying trendy traditional clothes for kids is not as difficult as it used to be a decade ago. There a number of online stores which have delightful collection of kid’s party dresses, perfect for all occasions. But before buying dresses from these stores, there are a few tips that parents must follow. First and the most important tip is to opt for soft fabrics like cotton, which are light on the skin. Remember that the child will wear the dress for at least three to four hours. So if the dress is not light and comfortable, it will irritate your little one and make him/her cranky. You definitely don’t want that to happen right? So make sure you buy traditional outfits which are light in weight and airy.

You can jazz up the dress by adding little accessories to it. For example, if you have purchased a designer frock for your baby girl, you can use a little tiara matching to the dress. It will not only brighten the outfit, but will make your little one look excited for the function. Next tip is to choose reputed stores for shopping. Kidology is one such store which is known for its quality designer kids dresses. Choose this store as it has a huge collection of beautiful ethnic kids dresses.

Follow these simple tips to make your little one shine like a star on the D-day.

How to Dress Your Little One for a Wedding

Weddings are a time of supreme happiness and celebration. The fun and frolic around a wedding is almost infectious, and what makes it even more joyful is watching kids have a gala time! Adorable little children running about in uber- cute outfits, looking so proper yet so completely innocent. You just can’t get enough of how dapper your son looks in his tux or the way your little girl struts around in that flowy pink dress. Here are a few super simple tips to dress your kid’s in the most delightful way possible for a wedding:

Experiment:

While adults often like to play things safe with their attires, you don’t have to extend the same practice to your children. The vibrance synonymous with childhood can easily reflect into colourful dresses for your baby girl, and more than that you can move away from plain blacks and greys for your son. No need to dismiss pink when buying a shirt for your little boy, in fact a pastel or powder pink shirt looks oh so smart when worn under an off white suit. A trend I love to try on my little ones is traditional Indian wear. Indian party wear dresses for kids look so adorable, and have become increasingly versatile.

Accessorize:

Accessories complete an outfit, and look so wonderful on children, since it shows great attention to detail. When purchasing ethnic wear for kids, don’t forget to buy a stack of colourful and glittery bangles in plastic for your girl along with hair accessories; clips, hair beads and bands. For boys, you can use bow ties or pocket squares for that crisp finesse to their outfit.

The foot story:

I envy children because they get to wear the most adorable and bold shoes, and they do it with so much sass, it almost hard to believe that they are in fact kids! For short dresses, platform heels or boots are not only comfortable; they also add a fun element to the attire. For boys, i suggest loafers or boat shoes in faux leather.

How to Wisely Shop For Your Child

I think I speak on behalf of all of us when I say that we want to provide the very best for our little ones, because that’s exactly what they deserve.  We do our best to make our little munchkins look adorable as ever in their little frocks and their teeny tiny shirts. But style is only a second to your child’s comfort. You want your pumpkin to look not only cute, but also extremely happy in whatever they adorn. Here are a few basic things to look for when browsing through kids clothing stores.

Fabric/Material :
For summers, stick to fabrics that can breathe, cottons all the way, especially when purchasing dresses or gowns for girls. Stay away from anything that is too synthetic, for your kid can develop rashes in the scorching heat. Kids are born to run about and get really rough when they play, so it’s better to opt for stretchable pants, since they won’t tear apart so easily.
For winters you need to layer up, of course, but do keep in mind that the fabrics aren’t too coarse, soft woolens should always top your list.

Nagging Tags:
If those sketchy little tags attached to everything that you wear annoy you, imagine how irritating they can be for your kids, who have the softest skin. Since you can’t dismiss a piece of clothing just because of its tag, it advisable to have it neatly removed later on.

Consult your child:
Little as they may be, kids know when they are uncomfortable in something. Ask the child for their opinion on the dress. A lot of stores have trial rooms, you can have your kid try on a few options and ask them to choose the ones they like. This is a very good way to instill some decision making freedom early on in your little one.

Pretty clothes aren’t wearable if your child doesn’t feel their best in them. A happy child will be able to focus on their fun activities easily if they feel snug in what they wear, so don’t forgo the comfort factor at any cost!
